5 Tips to Extend the Battery Life of Your Smartphone or Tablet
We’ve all became very much accustomed to using mobile phones and tablets. But, we constantly run the risk of running out of battery juice before we get a chance to recharge. Below are 5 tips to keep your phone or tablet running longer on battery.
Tip 1: Turn off the wireless radios. Nowadays, mobile phones come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS capabilities. We rarely use them all at the same time, so it makes sense to turn off the ones we’re not using. There are now even utilities and apps that will help you do just that.
Tip 2: Activate your screen lock. Most devices have screen locks or screen savers that you should use. Set a very short lock time (1-2 minutes) because the sooner your screen turns off, the more battery power you’ll save.
Tip 3: Turn off the vibration and keypad tones. It may not seem like much, but if count the numbers of times the phone vibrates or beeps when you type or dial, it adds up.
Tip 4: Once in a while, completely drain your battery. The battery indicator on your phone might be giving you the wrong battery level reading due to irregularities in the charge/drain cycles. It’s a good idea to completely drain the battery so that the next time it’s charged; you’ll get a more accurate reading of its capacity.
Tip 5: Adjust your screen brightness to the dimmest possible setting or turn on the auto-dim feature, if it’s available on your device. Also, use a dark screen background as it will use less energy.
